Addiction Campuses Raises Awareness with Campaign for Alcohol Awareness Month

End the Silence with the Hashtag #NotWhoIUsed2B

(April 1, 2016) – April 2016 marks the 29th Annual Alcohol Awareness Month, and Addiction Campuses is working to end the stigma and silence associated with alcoholism.

“People are dying and living their lives in fear because they feel dirty and ashamed,” says CEO Brent Clements. “You cannot truly heal from something until you forgive yourself. It’s a vicious cycle. We want people to know that they suffer from a completely treatable disease, and there is life after the bottle.”

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 88,000 people die every year from alcohol-related causes in the United States. There are 23 million Americans in recovery, and those battling this illness are not alone. Addiction Campuses treatment specialists will be working extra hours during the month of April, providing assessments and treatment placement around the clock.

We want your viewers, listeners and readers to know that help is a phone call away. Addiction Campuses doesn’t turn anyone away because of a lack of funds or insurance. If we can’t help you, we will find someone who can. It is our hope that no other person has to die because they don’t have the financial means to get help.

It is never too late to start your new life. That’s why we’re encouraging both those in recovery and those showing their support to post their pic on social media using the hashtag #NotWhoIUsed2B to let people know how far they’ve come.

Custom PSAs for your station or publication are available upon request. Any media outlets who wish to join in this fight with us by airing or posting will be listed as a partner on the Addiction Campuses website, and they will be acknowledged on social media. Thank you for your involvement in spreading hope and healing into the lives of people who desperately need it.
