Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce to Host Forum on Addiction in the Workplace

August 10th, 2016 | By Brian Sullivan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 10, 2016) – The Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Waller Law Firm will host a forum on addiction in the workplace Wednesday, August 10 from 11:30am-1pm CST. Representatives from the Chamber, Addiction Campuses, Cumberland Heights and Waller will share their expertise in cost-effective methods for employers to deal with addiction in the workplace. This topic will be beneficial both for Human Resources professionals and for small business owners who do not have a Human Resources department.

“We seek to provide our members with the easiest access to the tools they need to promote health and productivity in their workplace,” says LGBT Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Howe. “This is an opportunity for us to provide answers on a topic that affects businesses nationwide, but not many people want to talk about.”

The group plans to discuss statistics about substance abuse in the workplace. Experts will explain what small businesses can do to retain employees who struggle with or care for someone struggling with addiction. Resources, costs, strategies, legalities and policies will all be topics of discussion. All experts agree that retaining talent is mutually beneficial for both the employer and employee.
