Turning Point Recovery Releases New Video Just in Time for Alcohol Awareness Month

Freedom Begins with the First Step
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – April 2016 marks the 29th Annual Alcohol Awareness Month, and Turning Point is hoping to end the stigma and silence associated with alcoholism, and encourage those battling the disease to take the first step.
“I was emotionally charged by the excitement of the people who participated in making this,” says Creative Director Erin Dineen. “Especially the clients. Just their willingness to share their story and help other people. That was everybody’s ultimate goal.”
The video, shot in Southaven by Kaleidoscope Media with the supervision of Dineen, is an engrossing 2 minute journey from an admission of a client needing help all the way to recovery. The ultimate message is simple – freedom begins with the first step.
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 88,000 people die every year from alcohol-related causes in the United States. There are 23 million Americans in recovery, and those battling this illness are not alone. Turning Point treatment specialists will be working extra hours during the month of April, providing assessments and treatment placement around the clock.
We want your viewers, listeners and readers to know that help is a phone call away. Turning Point doesn’t turn anyone away because of a lack of funds or insurance. If we can’t help you, we will find someone who can. It is our hope that no other person has to die because they don’t have the financial means to get help.
It is never too late to start your new life. That’s why we’re also encouraging those in recovery from alcoholism to post their pic on social media using the hashtag #NotWhoIUsed2B to let people know how far they’ve come.
Custom PSAs for your station or publication are available upon request. Any media outlets who wish to join in this fight with us by airing or posting will be listed as a partner on the Addiction Campuses website (Turning Point’s parent company), and they will be acknowledged and thanked on social media by both organizations. Thank you for your involvement in spreading hope and healing into the lives of the people of Mississippi.

ABOUT TURNING POINT:
Turning Point Recovery provides effective, multi-level care for adults and adolescents with
substance abuse, addiction and mental health disorders. As a leading, fully-accredited recovery center in Greater Memphis, we’ve been helping families restore hope and balance to their lives for many years. Our treatment philosophy is holistic: we address not only the addiction, but also any underlying mood or mental health disorders. Our caring physicians and psychotherapists specialize in “dual diagnosis” – helping clients regain emotional stability as they receive effective treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. We firmly believe that the right level of care is critical to recovery. Each Turning Point client receives an in-depth clinical assessment that shapes a customized plan of care, based on that person’s unique health needs. Placements may include medically managed detox, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), partial hospitalization (day treatment) or referral to our inpatient network. All our programs use an evidence-based therapeutic curriculum, to give each client the best opportunity for recovery.
